From MIWiki
This page is about the kanji and meaning of Mizu Iwa. For more information about the Karate School, please see Mizu Iwa (Dojo)

The Significance
The concepts represented by Water and Rock are important to Isshinryu Karate. The seemingly seemingly exclusive concepts of hard and soft co-exist in many places in the practice of Isshinryu. In fact the third Code of Isshinryu mentions that "The manner of drinking and spitting is either hard or soft."
